Fifteen years ago, in response to alarming rates of disengagement among Catholics, Matthew Kelly called a meeting with the Dynamic Catholic team to discuss one question: What’s the one thing that could change everything?
He gave the team thirty days to think about it. And one stipulation: every idea had to have the potential to be a complete game-changer for the Catholic Church in America.
Of the sixty ideas they generated, one stood out: What if we gave a free copy of Rediscover Catholicism to every Catholic in America as they walked into Christmas Mass?
What made the idea so powerful? Christmas Masses are always packed. 32% of the people in the pews only come to church once or twice a year. And, at the time, only 1% of American Catholics read a Catholic book each year. Imagine what would happen if every Catholic in America read just one great Catholic book each year for the rest of their lives. It would be a game-changer.
Fueled by this bold vision, the Christmas Book Program was born.
In the years since, Dynamic Catholic has partnered with over 10,000 parishes to distribute over 60 million life-changing books.
